Scandinavian-Inspired Eichler Sanctuary

Revel in the timeless artistry of Joseph Eichler in this exquisitely renovated architectural treasure, where iconic mid-century modern design is elevated by refined Scandinavian influences and forward-thinking sustainability. Signature floor-to-ceiling glass walls and skylights blur the lines between indoors and out, immersing you in nature while preserving your private sanctuary.

At the heart of this single-level home lies a sun-soaked atrium—an original Eichler hallmark—offering a central gathering space ideal for entertaining, stargazing, or quiet contemplation beneath the open sky. Upon entry, custom hand-painted starburst tile by Fireclay makes an unforgettable first impression. The open-concept layout flows seamlessly into the expansive living and dining areas.

Every detail and finish honors the past while embracing the future. Wide-plank oak and cushioned cork floors pair beautifully with exposed beams, updated globe lighting, and original tongue-and-groove ceilings—echoing Eichler’s aesthetic while infusing warmth and sophistication throughout.
Mid-century modern purists and design enthusiasts alike will delight in the impeccably curated kitchen, featuring sleek Henrybuilt cabinetry, a custom solid walnut extension, Fireclay and Heath tile, and gleaming porcelain countertops. A wine fridge, wet bar, induction cooktop, and Thermador double ovens complete this dream kitchen—equally suited for everyday life and exceptional entertaining.
Both bathrooms are outfitted with Carrara marble floors, Fireclay tile, bespoke walnut vanities, and striking modern fixtures—delivering spa-like elegance at every turn.

This home is more than beautiful—it’s brilliantly sustainable. Solar panels, smart home technology, radiant heating, an EV charger, a hybrid water heater, LEED-certified insulation, and drought-tolerant landscaping ensure efficiency without compromise. The backyard is a curated sensory escape, blooming with drought-tolerant and pollinator-friendly plantings — agave, lavender, bougainvillea, jade and sage anchored by vibrant fruit trees bearing Meyer lemons, mandarins, blood oranges, limes—and yes, even blueberries.

Nestled in the sought-after enclave of Sequoyah Hills, you’re moments from Knowland Park’s hiking trails, horseback riding, the Oakland Zoo, and convenient commuter routes. The upcoming Oak Knoll development promises future access to grocery stores, shopping, and dining just minutes away.

This is more than a home—it’s a piece of architectural history, thoughtfully reimagined for modern living. Join the legacy of Eichler enthusiasts and experience the unmatched harmony of form, function, and future-forward design.

Living in the Sequoyah Hills

With gently rolling hills and natural beauty abound, life in Sequoyah is one of peace and enchantment. Built in 1913, the prestigious Sequoyah Country Club is a central focal point of the neighborhood and the blend of homes surrounding the club began with the original 1915 home built on Sequoyah road followed by the 1920's development of Spanish style architecture that matched the look and feel of the country club's architecture. In the middle of the 20th century, the neighborhood was developed to include many all-level homes that suited the needs of homeowners for decades as legacy homes often passed down to children. The famed developer Joseph Eichler chose the Sequoyah Hills to erect nearly 50 homes, the smallest group of his vast collection of works that emphasized blurring the lines between nature and interior living. These homes are often designed with a central open atrium and walls of glass to create an intimate connection to the outdoors.

Sequoyah has its own micro-climate, known for copious sunshine when other parts of the East Bay are engulfed in fog blown over the Bay from San Francisco. Knowland Park offers many hiking and biking trails and viewpoints of the Bay and the SF city skyline. The Oakland Zoo lies at the base of the neighborhood, housing over 850 native and exotic animals and features a sky-tram offering breath-taking vistas of the entire Bay Area. The upcoming Oak Knoll Community, just north of the Zoo, has plans to offer grocery, shopping, a revitalized stream winding between walking and biking paths, playgrounds for children and an open meadow at the top of the hill where flying kites and enjoying picnics will enhance the experience of living in the special neighborhood we call Sequoyah.
